Bugotel

Create a concept in 2050, taking inspiration from the Sustainable Development Goals. Visualise a future where sustainability and environmental awareness are at the center.

THE BRIEF
The Swedish flora and fauna are under threat. Natural areas in the Nordics are becoming smaller, more homogeneous and disconnected. Forests are being cultivated, pastures are overgrowing and natural lands are being turned into farmlands, which are then treated with pesticides.
This has significant consequences for the tiniest creatures — the insects. In fact, despite their size, insects bear great responsibility, pollinating up to 90% of plants to allow them to spread.

THE CONCEPT
Introducing Bugotel – the smallest hotel for our most important guests. Scandic has chosen to engage in the fight for insects’ survival by launching Bugotel, an insect hotel at Scandic hotels where insects can stay for free. By taking a stand for insects, Scandic demonstrates that they are doing their part, something that will not only attract more insects to Scandic, but also people.
